Desirable is the final daughter of Deadly Desires to hit the track. When she was born, we expected her to grow up to be ferocious, burning with the fire of both her dam and her sire. Not so. Desiree, despite her height, is an approachable and easy-to-handle horse. She's not even high maintenance; instead, Desiree is downright playful. She can seem scary at first glance, but one look from her chocolate brown eyes will have you melting. Desiree is vocal, tending to neigh and whicker as well as use body language to get her point across, but she's not violent. You have to be wary of her, though; Desiree tends to drool more than the average horse, and she delights in "playing" with her handlers by somehow getting large coatings of drool all over them. Desiree is fairly intelligent and figured out the training and racing game almost immediately. She's the kind of horse who likes to work, and work hard, but doesn't necessarily like to be challenged. Her mountains of innate talent have led her to be rarely challenged in her everyday life by her cropmates, and those that handle her tend to admire her sleek conformation and beautiful way of motion. Her confidence comes from this admiration, hence why she has zero problems being completely disgusting with her saliva slobber, and her playfulness is fed by this confidence. Overall, Desiree ended up being a lot easier and more fun to handle than we initially expected, and it's definitely something we appreciate.
Leg Type: Gradual Closer
There it is; the moment Desiree got on the track, we discovered that the fire of her pedigree comes out on full display. Desiree is a professional and bothers nobody except her paddock pony while warming up, tending to view the pony as a rather large snack or lollipop to chew on. Once she's finally dislodged and loaded in - typically the first in the field in the metal contraption - it's like Desiree becomes a different kind of horse. An intent almost deadly settles over her composure. While she breaks a step slow, likely because of her larger build, Desiree floats at the back of the pack as though she's leading the field. Desiree is the kind who builds her speed with each passing furlong, gradually gaining in speed until she's finally given the cue to let it all out. Then, Desiree roars to top speed with the acceleration of a sprinter, taking command and attempting to win by open lengths by the time the slams past her. Desiree is a fighter in full flight and has the kind of undeniably ground-eating stride that is difficult to shut down, merely being survivable for those lucky enough to have an extra gear when facing her.
