TDI LIVE THIS LIE AND AMBER BLACK DARK SUNRISE AND HENNA TURATH
FALSEHOOD'S AND SUNNY'S WORKOUT FOR THE UNICORN HORN MILE
The mare and stallion were truly starting to see a lot of each other on the track. They had raced together for their first start of the season, the January Dirt Stakes, and Falsehood had won with Sunny running fourth. They had also worked together prior to the Breeders Cup. So by now, the sight of the petite dark bay mare alongside the muscular gray stallion was familiar, and Krystal smiled as she watched Amber and Henna easily exchange words with one another as they warmed up. This was the big prep workout for the Unicorn Horn Mile. Indeed, both Falsehood and Sunny had increased in class enough for Amber to consider sending both of them to the Unicorn Horn series. Krystal prayed for a one-two finish SOPS in the race. No doubt the two horses would push each other hard for the win.
Amber smiled as Falsehood flawlessly responded to her every command. She just knew that the four year old's eyes would be glinting with challenge by now. The gray son of Definite Glory was definitely feeling his oats, though; he moved with an eagerness to go that made Amber feel like she was aboard a race car rather than a racehorse. Aboard Sunny, Henna felt like she was floating. The mare's stride had improved to the point that power was contained within grace, and Sunny had always responded to Krystal's commands and wouldn't start disobeying them now. And with each other, Falsehood and Sunny worked as a unit. They kept close together, and when the time came to race they gave each other a run for their money.
Have you looked at the field yet for the Mile? Amber asked. Henna nodded. Yes. I find it funny that Afterglow and The Goodness are our competitors. Both fillies by Sweet Sugar Cane she commented. Amber's face brightened with pride. Yes. He's become such a fine sire, hasn't he? His fillies are lovely! Then she paused. Too bad we're going to have to defeat them, huh? teased Henna lightly. A small smile broke out on Amber's face. Sometimes I wish we could just all win, you know? she said. Henna nodded. But that's just not the way it works. We have to pave our way to victory no matter who we're facing. Sunny may have failed against Born To Soar last year, but we're not backing down this year. Not after we were the only horse she beat for that title. Amber grinned slightly at Henna's competitiveness. It was a sore spot for her jockey, and Amber hoped they would get the chance to defeat Born To Soar together.
Let's start galloping now, yes? asked Amber. Henna nodded, and in seconds the two thoroughbreds were off at a bright gallop. Long, smooth strides swallowed the dirt track up, and nose to nose the stallion and mare stared each other down while also looking ahead to the wire. But Amber and Henna didn't let them really go at it, race style. That was to be for the race itself. No, they were just stretching out today, and Amber and Henna wanted their legs loose for the race. As they curved into the stretch, Krystal watched the two horses closely. There were no signs of irregularities. The two horses were definitely ready, then, for their efforts in the Unicorn Horn Mile.
