INFINITE WARCRY AND AMBER BLACK THE INNOCENT SKIER AND KRYSTAL YHATE
Somehow, the gentle giant of the two year old crop had become the self-proclaimed best of them, with four wins in six starts, and his last two wins being achieved in huge fields that even contained older horses. Amber had not expected this talent from the black colt. It had all started after he had won his first race in stunning fashion. He had then gone through many races, but he did not truly begin to catch the eye until he won the Magic Millions Colts Turf. After that, there was no stopping him. He won the Thunderstorm Stakes and the Just Dance Cup, with a second in the Aquafresh and a fourth in the Stable Face Off races. The next race for him was up in the air, though Amber was definitely looking at the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf and a Turf Triple Crown campaign next year. However, they definitely planned to hit the Autumn Cup in the last week of August and then follow a random path to the Juvenile Turf, if the distance was increased by a furlong. Amber was fully confident of his abilities.
As for Ian, well, Krystal had expected more from the bay stallion that once been named Prospect of the Year. He hadn't won a single race this year, and was lagging behind his eternal rival, Worldbreaker. Krystal would not stand for Ian losing to a rival. She also wouldn't stand for him to be beaten by the black juvenile colt that challenged them today at a race of four furlongs for sharpening purposes. Defeat was not an option, even if their opponent was a gentle horse with monstrous speed. And they wanted to get started quickly. Warm up consisted of a ten minute trot followed by a five minute canter, and then a sudden burst into a gallop. The two riders hugged the rail, content not to go until they reached the half mile pole at the last turn. Motionless, the two horses ran side by side, with Ian's nose just slightly in front of Infini's betraying his competitive spirit.
At the appointed time, the male thoroughbreds were released. Ian jumped for the lead the fastest, snatching it, while Infini loafed, content to wait. At the insistence of his rider, he picked it up a little bit, but not by much. He would not be rushed. He had the temperament of a distance runner. Though the gap between the two grew large, Infini did not work to lessen it until he was in the stretch. Then the black bullet was let loose, and he ate up the ground in monstrous strides. Ian held on, slightly widening the gap that was being eaten, but Infini could not be denied when he really wanted something. Ian barely won over the quickly closing two year old. Though Krystal was slightly upset with this, she was also happy to have gotten a good workout in with her colt, and Amber looked thrilled with Infini's performance as well.
