Prince has one of the best pedigrees around. His sire is none other than HoF'er Royal Red Richard. He is a retired G1 stallion with a BC Classic Winner and Universal Cup Winner. He's also the sire of HoF'er Pegasus Wings. Prince's dam, Atalanta is a half-sibling to Triple Crown Winner, Admiral's Revenge and a daughter of Augusta who is out of Augusto. As a race horse Atalanta is a proven G2 mare. She is the Tropical Trespass winner and the BC Yearling winner. Her sire was none other than IR's War Admiral. He raced mildly, but had proven to be too aggressive to humans and the other horses. Through this black hellion, Prince is related to the likes of Triple Crown Winner and G1 stallions, Admiral's Revenge. Also, Prince is related distantly to Warlock (G2), Admirable (G2), and upcoming colt Top Admiral (G5). Atalanta's dam is none other than Augusta. This G1 mare was a nightmare on the tracks with a record of 50-25-12-9, placing outside of the money only six times. As a dam she didn't slack producing Warlock (G2), Contessa (G1), Anarchi (G1), Apollo Bear (G5), and Arachne (G4).

Pedigree Comments:At first glance, Brain Trust's pedigree is not much of a standout, but if you dig deeper and glance into Finale Slew, you realize that this plain brown wrapper is a jewel in disguise. His sire, DW Flamekissed, is a half-brother to GM Triumph. DW Flamekissed finished third in the Y6 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf behind G3 Gorgeous George and future Hall of Famer, The True Nut. He won the Iasis, Kaniska and Desert Prince Stakes and was very consistent, finishing only seven times out of the money in his brief career as a race horse. He has proved formidable in his stud career though not a clear cut standout. His only foal racing is currently Wild Kiss, a grade two race filly for Stride of Perfection Stables. Wild Kiss has won the Y12 Girly Cup, the Grade Four Turf in the GHF Stable Face Off, the Y10 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, the Fluffy Cup, and the Y11 Unicorn Horn Fillies. Wild Kiss also finished second in the Y11 Preakness Champion Stakes and Y11 Belmont Turf Classic. DW Flamekissed's other filly on the ground is Summer Romance, out of Ashanti dam of Justa Muffin, grade four race horse Ashes to Ashes and Oak Hill Farm's This Means War. Summer Romance, like Brain Trust will begin her race career in Year Fourteen. On Brain's dam's side, Finale Slew, Brain is related to Crescential, Intuition, Jazzman, Livin' The Jazz, Jazzaway, and Jazzasoleil. Crescential was a grade one race horse who won the MHS Dawn Treader Cup, the Barbaro Stakes and the Pegasus Stakes. He is the sire of grade three, four year old filly Screaming Mimi, who finished second in the Year Seven Breeders Cup Marathon. Jazzman is a grade one stallion owned by Akita Rose Stable who won the Breeders Cup Mile, two versions of the Seaspray Cup, The Melbourne Cup, and the Autumn Cup. He is the sire of the grade five two year old Livin The Jazz, who finished second in the Unicorn Horn Juvenile Turf, the Magic Millions Colts Turf and third in the Follow the Hoofprints Turf at The Wire. Jazzaway recently broke his maiden for Akita Rose Stables and finished third in the Wire Finish Cup Juvenile Mile. Jazzasoleil is a weanling at this point in time.

Take Flight has solid turf lines, both dam and sire preferring the turf. Though there are some dirt influences in King's producing ability, this filly is a full sibling to Simply A Flyer, the classic turf Hall Of Fame inductee, and has great turf influence in her lines. Brain Trust also has a good turf pedigree, with Wild Kiss from his sire and two hard knocking turf runners from his dam. Proteus Prince has got a lot of dual going on there. He is definitely blue blooded, but it seems to me that Atalanta was a bit more of a dirt horse, and half sibling Strictly Royal was a dirt horse. In a competitive situation like this, having such dirt connections marked him down a bit. Noah's Radiance screams dirt to me. Radiance was a dirt horse through and through and Noalla never raced.
