AMARIS AND MEREDITH MAHON CELEBRITY AND KRYSTAL YHATE MR WILD AND CHRISTOPHER BLACK
The next generation had arrived. Amber Black licked her lips and leaned against the track railing, excitement blazing in her eyes. In just a couple of weeks, all of her juveniles would have started on the tracks and commenced their operation to rule the world. It was an ongoing task and Amber intended to continue pursuing this impossible dream. It was more fun the longer you sought for something, getting gradually closer but never ending up right there. But in terms of other things that weren't world domination...Amber could see her horses approaching. She narrowed her eyes critically, assessing each one, looking for signs of injury or ill-health. None of the three approaching displayed anything concerning; if anything, they looked too good to be true.
The crazy tall gray princess known as Amaris led the way. She swaggered onto the track like she owned it, throwing her head up at even the slightest bit of direction from her rider. Meredith didn't seem to mind. The princessy mare was too much like her princessy jockey for the two to not get along. The minute Amaris's hooves touched the track, she took off with a smooth sort of coolness that you'd expect from the pros. It made Meredith's smirk even wider. Here was a horse ready to strike out and kill. She was one heck of a smooth mover. Amber's eyes, glued to the filly, admired her smooth but powerful movement, the efficient and effortless way she glided over the ground. The daughter of Wire Champion Frozen Motion and Hall Of Fame Axis Mundae had been hotly anticipated. Amber could see the ghosts of mares past in this one. She could see granddam Little Miss Innocent in the intelligent flash of her eyes, the powerhouse build of Axis Mundae in the body. Yet the filly had inherited her sire's cunning and smooth speed. It was a done conclusion that absolutely nobody could bear to wait any longer to see this filly in a race.
Amber couldn't just stare at the one filly though. The one following her was the most flashy horse Amber had ever bred. There was a sort of dazzling grace to this one's movements that just attracted the eye. Celebrity glided onto the track like a model on the catwalk. And Bri just soaked the gazes right up. She was all business as she stepped up to the plate, gracefully transitioning into a canter as Krystal Yhate asked, pretty as you please. Krystal's eyes glowed. She had just said good-bye to the filly's half-sister in Wish Upon A Star. She had said good-bye to a lot of this filly's relations...Foolish Lad, Moondance...watched Paranormal Hunter become a sensation...and now she had Bri. And the world had better watch out, because Krystal intended conquest.
The bay colt following the two powerful fillies might have been easy to miss to a passers by, but there was no mistaking the happy way he tore up the track underneath minimal urging from his jockey. Christopher Black looked content and happy as Mr Wild flew up the track. He was built dainty for a colt, but there was no mistaking his efficiency. This was a rare horse straight out of Akita Rose bloodlines on the sire side. Mr Light was a respected sire. His dam Wild Kiss had been a respected turf mare in her time. It was from her that Wild got his dainty build but sheer class. Amber could see it now as he moved around the track - the two fillies were the most flashy, but Wild had the steady class that gleamed if you looked for it. He was ready to go and would be a real powerhouse.
The instructions for the workout were not complicated - the horses would gallop a mile and go strong for the last half. It was meant to be a flexible order and flexible it would be. The three horses lined up, shoulder to shoulder, and when they were given the command to run they lit the turf on fire. Bri took authoritative command, eyes gleaming as she raced like a sprinter. Krystal worked with the filly as though they'd been together for ages rather than a couple of months. She was followed by Mar, the gray stalker settling comfortably and just waiting for the command to blow. Wild was comfortable at Mar's side. None of the three looked as though they were trying, yet they ran comfortable fractions with ease. Amber had a smirk on her face herself as the three tore into the stretch, released into the fight.
The three way tie the horses formed as they crossed the line and concluded the workout was picture perfect. Bri was flashy, Mar was a forthright warrior and Wild showed his fighting spirit to the end. Amber simply could not wait to watch these horses run, continuing to advance SOPS turf on the track.
