Year 19 Encouragement Award
Rough. Tough. Crazy. These three adjectives describe Akanksha, affectionately known as Sha, to a tee. She is out of intense, hard-working parents with attitude, and it shows. This is one horse that you can never be absent-minded around, for Sha will take complete advantage of a human not paying attention to her to get up to something she should not be doing. Sha's cardinal rule is that she gets what she wants, when she wants it, no questions asked. The only way to get her to respect you is to never submit and never show weakness in front of her. Her dominant streak, a product of both of her lines, has made her a tough horse to handle, even for other horses. None of the other horses mess with Sha unless they're willing to take her bared teeth, pinned ears, and likely very physical retribution. She is not a horse for the faint of heart; indeed, the intensity of her bloodline is on display twenty four hours a day. Sha seems to have no quiet moment. She is constantly asserting herself and her dominance over the other members of the herd. When completely by herself, however, Sha appears to settle into her skin and actually be a horse. She can seem quiet and content when grazing in the field or on hay in her stall. The moment another horse shows up or she knows a human is watching, however, Sha reverts to crazy dominant pony mode, her imperious nature on full display for the world to see.
Leg Type: Front Runner
Sha, like her mother, is driven by the need to be dominant. In the paddock and on the track, her personality does not change; in fact, the presence of the other horses usually amps her up. Sha is at her highest strung when on the track. It is not uncommon for her to be sweating and on edge throughout the entirety of the post parade. Sha typically gives the gate crew a hard time for the fun of it before loading in in her own due time. This typically leads to her being gated last, as the gate crew's learned her antics and know that she won't go in if other horses are out. Sha breaks incredibly fast and heads straight for the lead. She takes a crack at holding it for the entirety of the race, never backing down no matter how horses come at her asking for what she views as rightfully hers. Blessed with plenty of stamina and lots of heart from her pedigree, Sha is able to keep going at brutally fast speeds for a long time at the front of the pack. This filly is the last to fold; only extraordinary circumstances will lead to her doing so, and even then there is no stopping Sha from bearing down on her competitors at the end of the race. Just when her competition thinks they have run her down, Sha displays an astonishing ability to find a new gear and rebreak, putting away those who dared to challenge her in a whirlwind of speed and heart.
