Solo's Song was an impulse edition to the ranks, but his purchase is absolutely not regretted. Solo is a dash of fun among all the other serious equines. He likes to joke around and play in a reminiscent similar to Forbidden To Fly, always keen to toss a ball back and forth with a groom as though he's a dog playing fetch or get a nice scratch behind his ears. He seems like such a barn horse, friendly to every equine he comes across - even the crazy ones! - and neighing jovially at every human. However, Solo isn't all barn affection - fire does sleep within his soul, and you can see it on full display the minute he's outside the barn and in the paddock or on the track. Then, Solo just seems sharper. He holds himself differently - more dominantly - and takes to striding up and down the fence rail, eyeing everything up as though it's a threat, always alert for new environmental stimuli or unfamiliar things. He will never bite and never react badly to anything new he finds - instead, he is inclined to start neighing loudly and pawing the ground, causing a ruckus until somebody comes over to see what the problem is. Solo is definitely a quirky horse, inclined to call for attention when outside but content receiving none when in the barn. His typically gentle mannerisms were much welcomed among a horde of grooms harassed by other members of his crop, and Solo is for sure the barn favorite no matter where stabled.
Leg Type: Closer
Solo doesn't seem like the kind of horse Valencia would go for, but every time she's asked why she took the gentle horse as a mount the young woman merely grins and mentions "hidden depths". Those depths she's referring to are perhaps on display in the random territorial displays Solo takes up when he's led to the track. He's still calm and rather gentle with those who handle him, but the way he looks at everybody changes, as though something has shifted internally but it's not certain what. Solo tends to shoot sparks of fire from his gaze when warming up for a race, almost as though he's goading the other horses on without explicitly doing so. He's still a barn and track favorite, loading easy, but Valencia saw the fire and immediately knew this was a horse she wanted to ride. Solo breaks at an average speed and finds a position at the back of the speed duels up front that sprint races favor. He's never too far behind, but he'll lay off the pace for a furlong or two before suddenly bounding up as though he's forgotten he's racing and suddenly remembers. Solo has a tendency to close into the quick pace as soon as the final turn comes up or when Valencia asks. The smirk on his jockey's face is unmistakable in the stretch when Solo appears, grabs the lead, and bounds away with effortless grace, looking as though he isn't truly trying the entire time but letting the fire in his eyes challenge those who wish to take the lead away.
