Rio is a strong and willful horse who is confident in himself and in what he wants. He's not fearful of men or people like his dam was, but carries a certain fire that says he will go off on them should they ever do something that makes him feel afraid. Rio is an incredibly athletic animal and never needs a lot of conditioning to look like he's in top shape. He's known for being on his toes at all times, always ready to face and beat down challenges and challengers. Rio is generally indifferent to others, equine or human, as long as they don't mess with him or look like they're going to bother him. At the end of the day, his desires don't differ too much from what his handlers want - a good grooming, a good workout, and the desire to dominate when he runs.
Leg Type: Stalker/Front Runner
Rio is a bombshell of a colt on the track. He always looks like he's on the edge of an explosion, from his prowling strut to the way he loads with deadly calm into the gate. Rio appears to be a great blend of his parents when it comes to the race itself. Unlike his sire, who didn't quite have the speed to get the lead, Rio has no issues getting there if the pace suits, but is known to usually stalk his competition instead in second or third. He prefers to lay back and watch the pace develop while being mindful of the horses behind him. When the time comes, Rio accelerates rapidly and makes his bid for the win. He relishes a good fight, characteristic of both sides of his pedigree, and never makes it easy to pass him in the final furlong.
