Whenever Catastrophe's around, everybody in the vicinity knows they need to brace themselves for whatever the chestnut decides to do. Cat is exactly like his name describes - a catastrophe waiting to happen. He is constantly up to no good, whether that be head butting his grooms or lightly ramming his fellow horses in a casual-but-not dominance display. The worst thing about Cat is his constant urge to bite and paw at everything nearby. He always needs a jolly ball in his stall to nudge and chew on or else he goes absolutely insane. This is not a horse that you can leave without entertainment. Despite his refined, elegant, and classy legacy to live up to, Cat is the opposite of elegant in mannerisms. Oh sure, he looks like a refined and polished animal from a distance, but get up close or observe this chestnut for any significant amount of time and his insane side comes out. Cat needs to be entertained 24/7 and can almost not be left alone. He needs a horse to neigh at, something to play with, literally anything to stimulate him. Even with things to entertain him, Cat tries to get into trouble, trapping grooms against walls and picking up brushes in his mouth just to ensure that no other person can touch it. Despite his antics, though, Cat wouldn't hurt a fly. Sure, he's a taller horse and he's definitely built well enough to cause some damage, but anybody who knows Cat well also knows that he's a rather gentle horse. He likes to play with his environment and people and that's about it. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body and is at his most unmanageable when left without something entertaining to do.
Leg Type: Pace Presser
Given his barn personality, we were slightly worried about what Cat would be like on the racetrack. Thankfully, the Mastermind and Ventura son actually isn't too unmanageable on the track - get Kylie on his back and somebody firm on the bridle on the ground or on the paddock pony, and you have a well behaved and elegant looking animal parading around the track. Cat tries to get away with everything on the track, but he also knows when he's lost the battle of how much mischief he can get in that day. This is a horse that loves to run and run fast, but he really can't give up his mischief-making tendencies even when racing. From a flashy break to pouring on the speed in front, Cat does what he does at a quick tempo, though his favored position is to settle right behind the leaders and press them faster and faster throughout the race. He torments them, applying constant pressure throughout the race and seeking to make them crack seemingly without breaking a sweat. With mountains of speed and stamina to spare, he's able to pull off his tiring racing style with perfect form each time. Kylie merely has to sit on his back, watch out for traffic, and then shake the reins at the appropriate moment to let the colt know to knock off what he's doing and go for the actual win. Cat will knock it off and accelerate for the lead once asked. As much as he enjoys tormenting his foes by testing their limits, he also enjoys winning races by as many lengths as possible and will go as fast as possible to secure the win he covets.
