Polly is a fine animal. He's muscular, built like an athlete with a lithe and precise way of moving, and has the kind of flashy action that promises him a career as a dressage horse should he ever desire. The thing with Polly, though, is that he tends to wage war against life. Polly is the kind of willful thoroughbred who is accident and injury prone just because he wants to get his own way and prove himself the king of all he surveys. He likely inherited this willful attitude from his sire, Ares, and having Shiver Me Timbers as his great-grandsire probably didn't help in this matter, either. Polly's stubborn desire to conquer and rule manifests itself in his designation as the Barn Bully, the Pony Pusher, etc. He constantly muscles other horses around if he's turned out with them and is not a good horse to tack up in the aisle anywhere near another equine. Polly just thrives off of giving people and horse a hard time. When it comes to his humans, Polly knows he can't get away with all the same stuff as he can with horses, leading to him often mutinously doing what's asked of him with a dangerous glint to his eye that seems to indicate his readiness to take advantage of the unwary and do something stupid just to be frustrating. We're unsure of why he thrives off of being a stubborn mule, but it does mean he's intelligent (as he knows exactly what he can and cannot get away with and how) and that he never gives up in the face of a fight.
Leg Type: Wanderer
Polly is a bit of a nutcase on the track. He'll act fine while you're tacking him up, eye up the other horses like they're part of a multi-course meal in the paddock, and then begin his antics by frustrating his paddock pony right from the get-go. Rather than gallop directly alongside his pony, he'll stay far enough back to be somewhat out of their vision, and then playfully canter in place instead of trot at the appropriate speed to stay with them. He'll load fine, break, and usually start in a position near the front. He won't take the lead, probably park himself a length or two off the leader, and then he tends to "wander" around the field - we have no other way of describing what he does. He'll accelerate randomly to breathe neck-to-neck with the leader, then drop back to lead the pack, then drop back even further to lay off the pace with the closers, then accelerate again to take yet another position in the field. What you can count on him doing, though, is accelerating sharply at the beginning of the final turn and going for broke in the stretch. Polly is the kind of horse who cherishes the win like a birthday carrot cake; he savors every moment while he's eating it (aka, while in the lead) and defends it fiercely from other horses (aka, will not lose that lead without a fight).
