Ario has bloodlines that can boast no comparison. Merry Bay King is a Breeder's Cup Turf winner, Horse of the Year, and Hall of Fame-er. Bank On Silver was also Horse of the Year and was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. Ario's notable siblings are his half sisters Euphoria [HoFer], Lusitania [Breeder's Cup Classic winner], Bank On Glory [Kentucky Derby winner], Once Upon A Dream [Juvenile Fillies winner], and Simply A Flyer [Breeder's Cup Turf winner].
The colt himself is arrogant and a complete show off. He knows his place, oh yes he does, and brags about it all the time. He knows that legendary blood runs through his veins, and he certainly knows what racing is about. Just like King he boasts an unexplainable fondness for his main rider, that rider being Amber Black. He'd do anything to please her, to keep her happy, provided he approves of it himself. From Silver he has a deep affection for life, appreciating how gifted he is and what he's meant to do. The one thing that sets him apart from his parents is his arrogance and need to be in the spotlight - but what can you expect from parents who were mostly in the spotlight all the time? His attitude could be seen as seen by others as the typical thoroughbred, but to Amber he's her son in horse form, bred to race and kill the track. You see, Ario loves to race. I can't imagine ever taking him off the track. Racing is how he lives, and whenever he races he puts his entire being into winning. The one thing that really gets him going, though, is Anarchi. The colts hate each other, abhor even the mention of their names, and face off countless times. Any time Ario loses to the other colt, he becomes more quiet, reserved, and deadly. He becomes more like the other colt, weirdly enough. But when he wins, this temperament is shed for his regular one.
Ario races as a front runner. He races into first if the other horses aren't too speedy, or if they are he drops back into second or third and bides his time before sprinting for the wire and a nice looking win. He is said to be as fast as a cheetah, and is widely praised by the racing world because of his amazing wins. As a four year old, we made to switch him to the turf, and even though he hasn't placed out of the top three and even won the Unicorn Horn Turf, the racing world has been clamoring for him to return to the dirt. After much thinking, Amber proposed to herself that she would see if Ario could run on both surfaces equally well at the same time. His switch to the turf had been great, as Ario was already used to a less firm surface, so equally good performance on both surfaces is definitely possible. We will see as the season goes on what will happen to our great champion.
