That flashy blood bay thoroughbred that prowls the stables is a sleek, spirited colt that holds the pride and courage of a lion in his great heart. His dark eyes speak out to those around him, flecked with a fiery determination to conquer. Flash is the son of News Flash and Forbidden Wings, both retired grade one racehorses. News Flash was known for his amazing ability to race almost any distance and surface with ease, and Flash has inherited this quality in his liking of both dirt and turf surfaces. Forbidden Wings not only won the Breeder's Cup Distaff in her time, but was known for her unearthly speed. She is also the dam of Silent Wings and Pegasus Wings, two grade one racehorses. While both horses have an aptitude for sprinting, Dara proved she could also stretch the distance to nine furlongs when she won the Coaching Club American Oaks. The youngest foal of Forbidden Wings, Forbidden To Fly, has also shown an aptitude for sprinting and mile distances, and is currently a rising grade two three year old. This expansion of distance combined with News Flash's love of the miler and classic led to the creation of Flash's preferences - but his brave heart and unerring determination cannot be explained through words.
Flash is one of those colts you notice instantly. His short but thick black mane stands out against the proud blood bay curve of his neck. His short tail fans out behind him as though it were long, and a gorgeous banner it is of his great pride. Flash can best be related to a lion. He has a brave heart and a determination to succeed in all of his endeavors. He is not fazed by anything - rather, he is an optimistic horse that, when faced with an obstacle, works to get over it. He believes in himself and his abilities, and this confidence carries him through the pursuit of great things. He has a keen intelligence, though sometimes he will exchange this intelligence for the reckless attitude he takes on because of his pride. I wouldn't call Flash arrogant - it's more like he exhibits himself and his abilities but doesn't care who notices him. He is a beautiful creature with a taste for racing. Racing is a hobby that you can always improve your performance in, and Flash likes that. It isn't like learning the rider cues, which once you know you can't improve upon unless you become a dressage mount. Flash relishes a good challenge. Unlike other horses he does not hold rivalries, but he always remembers the horses who beat him. He sees these competitors as a challenge, and will work to overcome that challenge. The rider he has bonded with here at the stables is Henna Turath. Henna's calm attitude that didn't get fazed by anything attracted Flash to her, and he respects and reveres this attitude.
Leg Type: Stalker
Flash's attitude on the racetrack is noticeably different from the quiet, prideful way he carries himself off of it. He seems more energized as well as more aware of his surroundings. He is one of those horses that is eager to just go, go, go. Flash's intelligence shows the most when he's racing. He knows how to make quick flash decisions and how to run the best he can. This colt also knows how to run on most any surface during any conditions, but when the track is as heavy as it can get he is at a slight disadvantage. His racing style is that of the stalker. He breaks just fast enough to clinch a good position just behind the leaders. He lets them duel it out while happily calculating his next move. The challenge of racing energizes this colt and lends him the strength and speed he needs to do well in these races. The distances he loves the most are the classic distances, though he does know and does enjoy the stamina-grueling router races and runs just as determinedly as always in those races. On his more spirited days he will be a hard ride to control, just eager to go go go, but Henna has dealt with this before and knows how to ride a horse that acts like this.
