Ares is named after the Greek God of war, bloodshed and courage, and boy is it a fitting name. Ares has a temperament that borders on feral. He is wild and free as the wind, and takes orders from nobody, only suggestions. He is rebellious and revels in shattering the authority of those around him, be they human or animal. He is fond of nobody but himself. Ares has a massive ego that feeds this arrogance. This massive ego has led Ares to become very demanding. He is stubborn and will not obey orders unless he wishes to. He accepts only one rider on his back, and even then it is always his own choice. He is subject to no will but his own. He has a sort of wild energy that burns within his chestnut self like a fire, and this energy means the colt is never not up to a fight or a challenge. He never backs down and is deadly determined to prove himself better than anybody around him at any cost. Anybody that messes with Ares is asking for war, except in his case war will inevitably turn into a massacre. Ares goes above and beyond. He would not stop at merely defeating a competitor by a half length - no, Ares will go above and beyond as far and as fast as he can. Ares revels in battling others and shines with courage when he does. He is the epitome of the strong, forceful god for which he is named.
Leg Type: Closer
Ares is the type of horse that you don't mess with on the track. The minute he steps out there, Ares's powerful personality manifests itself entirely. He is a complete handful on the track, difficult to control and difficult to defeat. Ares trains like the demons of hell are chasing him. He charges on the track at speeds bordering on suicidal, but never seems to tire. He is competitive and sticks it to his competitor every stride of the way if training with others. However, in a racing situation Ares changes dramatically. One would think he is the type to lead from wire to wire, but Ares revels in the power that comes from being a closer. He requires no pace at the front end to start off because regardless of what it is every competitor knows Ares is coming for them. He has a vicious turn of foot, and when he starts to really race nothing matters anymore, including his rider. Ares is not the type to function better with a certain type of rider - it only matters that he approves of the rider on his back. He sees the horses on the front end as targets and chases them down, then in classic Ares style will not shut down. He will keep on going even past the wire, and when he slows down afterward it is because he is forced to by the outriders. But when Ares returns to the winners' circle, it is with tireless grace, and not one ounce of any tiredness he may feel is ever displayed.
