Jayde hails from Akita Rose Stables, and came to us when ARS announced they were closing their doors. Her parents are both excellent producers. Sweet Sugar Cane won the year three Breeders Cup Sprint and is the sire of grade one award winning turf sprinter Hall Of Fame inductee Deadly Desires, The Goodness, grade one Windbreaker and champion filly Afterglow. His foals are renown for their sprinting ability, and this has been passed down to Jayde. Queen of Hearts is a successful producer as well, and is dam of grade one Breeders Cup winner Fleet Goddess, grade two top-class closer Limitless Time, grade two Dark Sunrise and promising Heartless Revenge. Jayde was bred with the intention of becoming a sprinter, and she has proven that, indeed, she loves the shorter distance races. Greatness runs in her veins, and she has plenty to live up to.
Jayde is a sweetheart with a great attitude. On her forehead is a rough shaped diamond, marking her for her personality. She is a pure diamond, a little rough around other horses, but a pure diamond. She is a dominant filly who does not take kindly to being bossed around, but she also doesn't boss others around. She lives by the code of "If you leave me alone, I'll leave you alone". She does her own thing, and the other horses just have to let her be. With horses, she prefers to be left alone, but with people she demands attention. Her favorite treat, as we discovered shortly, is sugar cubes, and we wonder if that factored in to her name. If you give her this gift from the gods, she'll treat you like a saint and follow you around like a puppy, begging for more. She is easy to get along with, and easy to get the trust of. A favorite among the staff, she's known for not being a hellion, unlike the other fillies in the yearling bunch of year ten. She absolutely loves to be groomed and cared for, and her favorite person is Henna Turath, simply because that woman is the most adoring of her. Henna loves Jayde's sweet personality, and intends to take the filly far. They are already getting along fabulously, and they're going to go far. Jayde is the first Queen of Hearts foal to have the heart shaped marking on her forehead. We're hoping that this means she'll be even better than her half siblings.
Leg Type: Front Runner/Preceder
Jayde loves to sprint - there really is not much more to it. She takes more to the turf surface, the first Queenie foal to do so, and while she does like the dirt she definitely prefers the turf. Jayde breaks fast and goes right to the front. She likes to hang loosely in front of the pack so she can keep an eye on her competition, and loves the thrill of leading the field. This strategy also preserves her energy, so closers can't catch her. Her strategy is challenged if the majority of the field are front runners though. In this situation, Jayde takes on more of a mid pack style. She's not hot headed enough to demand the lead and stay there even if she's tiring. This can lead to getting boxed in and not getting a good position, but usually it ends up that Jayde is the only one with energy left in the field.
