This filly was bred to run on the turf. Her dam Little Miss Innocent is a Hall of Fame mare who was renown for her amazing turf racing achievements. When she ran, it was seldom that another horse would or could beat her. Axia's sire Warlock was a ferocious runner who ran his hardest in any race he was entered in. He had a strong temperament, one that you could get to know just by spending a minute with him. His strength was passed onto Axia, who actually looks more like a colt than a filly because of how strong she is. Missy gave Axia her ferocious racer's spirit, her sense of humor, and her unbelievable speed. When this filly runs, you'd do well to watch out. When Missy was impregnated, it was found that she was carrying twins. Kingfischer stud was to take one of the foals, and we were to have the other. When Axia and her sister Beltane were born and then weaned, Kingfischer took Beltane but has since disappeared. SOPS staff quickly managed to reclaim Beltane, and she has since been resold to Alexia. The two fillies are highly competitive with each other.
Axia has a very strong personality. This filly is bold and daring, not afraid to take chances and not afraid to take defeat. She is, in fact, not afraid of anything as far as we can see. It seems to us that she simply tries to find a way around the thing that is scaring her, and she always succeeds. This hints at the cunning intelligence the filly has, an intelligence that she uses in all her pursuits. Axia is not afraid to try anything, and will go forward for her rider Amber at the smallest of urgings. She loves to run and loves to work, especially working hard. Doing her best is a top priority of Axia's, as otherwise she feels unfulfilled. Her eagerness gives way to a very headstrong personality on some days, but on other days she's just raring to go but patient enough to obey Amber's commands. Axia has a humorous streak in her, something she inherited from her dam. This streak only ever comes out with Amber, though. Only then does Axia feel so truly relaxed that she can actually joke around. Otherwise, she's a bold and daring filly that acts like a colt and can certainly get mistaken for one. She does not like being underestimated at all, but she does take losses all in stride and strives to learn from those experiences. Axia has a very light spirit that is full of magic, in our opinions. Her determination, intelligence, courage, and commitment to greatness have earned her a place in our hearts.
Leg Type: Variable, usually Closer
Axia is bold and daring, as we know very well. She'll break like a rocket and then choose virtually any position to run from. On some days she'll be headstrong and will take that lead and run away with the race. She has an incredible amount of sprint stamina but usually doesn't use them all up when she races, preferring to win in an easy-going fashion. She may try hard, but she is not one to lose even though she's doing her best. The knowledge that another is better than her would not sit well with this filly. On most days, when she's manageable, Axia is a closer. She'll break quick enough but take a position farther back, where she can watch the other horses run and then make her move. Even though Axia does sprints, she has learned just how to shoot up that field quickly so that she does not place out of the money. Her intelligence makes her a deadly competitor in any size field on any track condition. Axia certainly does not run soggy turf as well as fast turf, but she can adapt quickly and still manage to make a run of it. Amber prefers to run this filly wherever she feels the filly would run best, and luckily if Amber makes the wrong choice this filly lets her know. Amber knows that riding this filly will be an interesting experience for her, as the filly sometimes knows what to do even better than Amber does, and Amber rarely rides horses like that.
