Mystical Melody boasts a racer's spirit and impeccable bloodlines. Related to names such as Secret Miracle, On To The Spotlight, Sweet Stalker, and Radiance, Mel has the potential - and definitely the talent - to make it big. Her half siblings were amazingly impressive on the track, and her sire was a racehorse to remember. Sweet Stalker was also a Hall of Fame inductee. Her dam has been the mother of a number of hugely successful foals, and Mel is looking to continue that legacy on the racetrack. She is built sleekly, and though she is small she can cover distance very quickly.
Mel is an energetic filly. Like her sire, she can't stand still. She always has to be doing something, anything at all. The outlet for this energy is racing. In races, Mel can give her all and come out great. Challenge her, and she'll joyfully race you. For Mel, racing isn't about winning. It's about enjoying herself as she picks off the competition and about burning off her huge energy resources. Mel is a filly that can get distracted very easily. She's a bit wrapped up in herself and her own thoughts, and requires a bit of prodding before she will focus. She was slow to develop as a yearling, but has improved to the level of competent racehorse. You have to take things slowly with Mel, but the good news is that your effort will pay off. When things click in Mel's head, it's the end of days for her competition. They will get beaten, and beaten badly, for Mel and her energy cannot be stopped easily. Mel is learning quickly and maturing fast now that we know how she works, and is quickly becoming a racehorse to watch out for.
Leg Type: Front Runner
Because of her great energy, Mel usually stays in front for the race. Sometimes, on a calmer day, she'll go mid pack, but usually she's the flashy bay running in front, setting the pace and somehow having the stamina to outlast the rest. We wouldn't call it stamina actually - more like her speed. Her talent for speed over great distances makes her a miler to be reckoned with, a miler who can run up to a mile and a half while still maintaining a good lead. If you challenge her, however, she may just lose her head if her jockey isn't quick to react. When it comes to those races, though, Mel becomes an unusually quick learner. Racing is in her blood, and therefore she has to learn it. She likes being out in front and breaks like her tail is on fire so she can get there as quickly as possible. Mel is a competitor that is slightly scatterbrained, but when she learns the ropes she becomes your worst nightmare.
