Lissome is pure mischief and deception. When you walk into the barn and see this adorable looking chestnut filly, you could hardly think that this filly was capable of escaping her stall, breaking doors, destroying the flowerbeds and ripping people's pockets....but...you would be deceived! This filly is just simply too smart for her own good and it lands her in the dog house most times. While there has yet been a lock that can contain this filly, one thing is for certain, she has enough determination and fire to take on all comers. Much like her sire in personality, Lissy can be a hot-head and has energy to spare. This energy paired with her dam's tricky and intricate nature, makes Lissy a handful to hold and contain. She has no issues invading personal space and can often become very demanding and occasionally aggressive on her off days. But by no means though is she malicious. She is just a filly that always knows what she wants and isn't above trickery and manipulation to get it. She would much rather use her brain than her bulk, but if you simply aren't getting her message, she doesn't mind stepping on some toes and throwing her weight around.
When it comes to other horses, Cali and Lil are her frenemies. The staff affectionately call them the three musketeers because they literally do everything together. They groom each other, fight each other...etc Cali and Lissy often clash heads for dominance, but Lissy has learned to let Cali simply be her puppet and give the filly the illusion that she's in charge. When the trio is in trouble, you know Lissy was the brains behind the operation. Lissome loves to win and when a challenge is placed before her, she fully throws herself into the task at hand. On the tracks it is no different. You won't find a more determined and competitive filly on race day. In the paddocks, this usually high energy filly is very stoic. She watches with a critical eye and you can tell she's already plotting. She might play up a bit in the post parade, letting the other horses know she's there, but she doesn't lay down her hand yet.Once in the gate, you have a seriously determined and dangerous filly on your hands. She simply flies out of the gates and likes to settle just off the pace behind the leaders and then her mind games begin. Lissome is cruel mistress on the tracks, mercilessly pressing the pace, backing off and then throwing the leaders off again. Her goal is to make those leaders as off as possible and when the final turn approaches....no mercy is shown and she simply puts the dragging leaders out of their misery. If by some chance though the leaders don't buy into her game, don't worry...she always has a plan B.
Lissome has been a brain child of Nick Landing for many, many years. Back in the day when Comeuppance was tearing around the tracks, he hit a speed bump named Little Miss Innocent. This black mare always seemed to be there in Comeuppance's way to victory and a fierce turf rivalry was born between the two, a rivalry that went down in the books. Back and forth the two went fighting to be the top horse. As soon as Nick saw the two horses duking it out, he knew...that one day he wanted to pair the two. The result was a fiery filly with determination and a love for the turf. Lissome has a turf pedigree that's old and proven and formidable on the tracks. (Leg Type: Stalker)
