Nafa is a force. Tall, powerful, strong-willed, she is probably among the most muscular, fit-looking, athletic mares we've had the pleasure of training. She has a liquid fluidity to her motions that is hard to duplicate and speaks to the rich legacy of success she is born to. As the final daughter of her dam, Wildly Natural, Nafa was hotly anticipated by staff, and from the moment she was born she has not disappointed. Whereas her dam was known for her sassy attitude, Nafa is known for her mood swings. Probably a product of the Augusto line through her sire, Devil's Flair, Nafa can go from domineering to outright rude in the blink of an eye. It's not clear what sets her off, but the strong-willed mare can and will throw her weight around when it does. The only way to calm her down in those moments is to let her have her head or give her something sweet to eat. For some reason, treats calm Nafa right down.
Leg Type: Tactical Closer/Stalker
Nafa is the kind of horse who is surprisingly tactical on the track. She rates her speed to whatever fits the race best, whether that's at the back to close from behind or somewhere up front stalking the pace of the front runner. She avoids the lead until the final half mile, which is when Nafa begins to gradually speed up, eyes on the prize. Her jockey merely has to hang on for the ride and direct her around thick traffic, an easy task given Nafa wants nothing more than to close into that lead. Her tall frame and ground-eating stride makes swinging to the outside and closing easy, and it isn't long before Nafa is bearing down and past the former leaders, opening lengths of daylight as she ensures her victory and place in the winners circle.
