Way is cute, sweet, and above all else - dumb as a doorknob. He's so damn handsome and huggable, like a teddy bear, and he certainly seems to have the brains of an inanimate object sometimes. He'll act surprised by things that have already been there, forget what it means to trailer despite having been trained extensively, and occasionally even acts as though gating is a new experience. Teaching him required repetition after repetition of the same stuff until it seemed to actually stick. Not a tactical horse by any means, Way is the kind who gets by through getting along with his fellow equines and humans. He's not going to bite you, bully you, or bother you, but he will give you an adorable look from his chocolate brown eyes that will make your heart melt. He's the kind of horse an aggressive one would try to bully, and probably succeed in doing so, mainly because he just doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Aggression doesn't seem worth it to the handsome bay, who'd rather proceed through his life peacefully than actually hurt or bother another living creature. He's a favorite of the barn cats, never bothering them when they curl up in his stall for a nap, and a favorite of the track handlers. Often among the first to load due to his good nature, Way is patient and hard-working. One can almost excuse how long it takes for him to get something given that he's such a joy to work with. It's unclear where exactly he got such a great temperament from considering his dam, but we certainly aren't questioning it too much!
Leg Type: Mid-Pack
Take Way to the track, put him in the middle of a bunch of horses, and the bay horse will run for days. He loves to be around his fellow equines and he loves to run, stretching his body out over the turf and speeding up when asked. He's very easy on the bridle and quickly responsive to his jockey's commands, flipping leads or scooting into an opening almost before you knew you've asked him to. He's content to follow the pace but not quite close from behind, preferring instead to enjoy his race and go when asked. Way is the kind of horse who makes his move best from the outside. Give him the cue to go, and he'll hook his way to the outer path of the track and surge forwards. He has a long, loping stride that swallows ground when he has the room to run, and he's so willing to do what his jockey asks that a race almost seems like a joint partnership with him; one part his talent, one part his jockey's tactical ability to guide him to where he will run best. Way throws his heart down for his rider every time, and revels in the praise and glory he receives after a race. He knows his job in a race is to win, and it's one lesson we're very happy to say has stuck with him since the moment he was introduced to it.
