Basics
Horse Name: Indulgence
YOB: Y19
Height: 16hh
Color: Bay
Gender: Female
Sire: HoF Limited Edition [Gold Edition x Trust Limits]
Dam: Sweet Inferno [Crooked Fire (Off Center x Fireworks) x HoF Sweet Stalker (BHoF Night Stalker x Sweet Melody)]
Innu, so named because her being bred was a product of a sudden "This is a great idea!!" moment by the scheming Amber Black. Innu's sire and dam were both prolific runners in the classic dirt races. Limited Edition's fresh pedigree legacy and Sweet Inferno's deeper, more well-known pedigree were planned to result in a horse that would take to the dirt with aplomb and have plenty of stamina as well as speed in the tank. Innu has an incredible legacy to live up to - both her sire and her dam won the Belmont Stakes in back-to-back years, which was first what led us to be inspired to make this pairing. They were also both Breeders Cup winners (Limited Edition in the Juvenile and Sweet Inferno in the Marathon) and Dubai World Festival winners (Limited Edition in the Championship and Sweet Inferno in the Marathon). With a pairing of this logic, we're expecting Innu to be fairly precocious and an absolute terror in the distance races.

At first glance, Indulgence isn't the prettiest filly in the barn at all. She seems very angular - sharp features, tiny yet sharp triangle ears, and a tail that's just too short and thick to be graceful. All of this may be true, but you'd do very well not to tell Innu any of it. The filly thinks she's a little princess; she has a haughty demeanor that makes you feel as though you're well beneath her, and it's not just because of her height. She has a way of moving that can only be described as snappy, as though threatening those watching to make a comment or indicate anything less than reverence towards her. She has a bit of an attitude problem and doesn't respond well to, well, anything; this is a horse you have to ask for favors from rather than demand to be obeyed by. Innu one hundred percent does not take well to other horses trying to be the dominant one; this filly has an overpowering personality and, just like her dam, doesn't take no for an answer when it comes to getting something that she wants. To top it all off, Innu is more high maintenance than either of her parents; she doesn't have a lot of patience, operates by a strict schedule, and needs to be fed just the right kind of food or treats in order to be happy. She doesn't much like the company of others unless they accept her rule, and is definitely not a people kind of horse. She does tolerate grooms, probably because they make her look pretty and she well knows when a human doesn't like her, but otherwise needs to be carefully handled by the barn staff.
Leg Type: Closer
Unsurprisingly, Innu disdains being handled in any way on the track. Gate staff would do well not to touch her, and paddock ponies better damn well maintain some distance if they must come along during a warm-up canter. Innu carries the professional nature of her sire on the track, but unlike Limited Edition there's a definitive air of do-not-disturb to her professionalism. Innu knows she's not the prettiest of horses and disdains being overlooked by bettors when being saddled and getting to the dirt; that's our only explanation for just how mean and angry she feels on the track, though she's never actually lashed out (yet) in any way. Innu gates like a professional but simply must be one of the last to load due to her impatience. She'll break fine, perhaps a touch slow, and take a position right at the back of the field. Innu disdains running where all of the other horses are; she'll take her time, thank you very much. She'll seem to loaf around for the first half mile or so before getting down to business at some point in the backstretch. Then, her jockey starts getting the sense of building energy in the filly; around the final turn, that energy is allowed to release and Innu sweeps up the field, blazing at speeds her legacy would be proud of as she seeks the win that she feels is hers by birthright.
